The Managing Director of Cockermouth-based Nu-Tech Exhibitions + Events has been awarded the title 2025 Businesswoman of the Year - Micro - at the National Business Women’s Awards in London in recognition of her leadership, innovation, and long-term impact in transforming industry engagement across the UK’s most strategically important sectors.

Lisa Jones-Taylor, who has led Nu-Tech for over 25 years, promotes technology transfer & innovation across the UK’s critical industries. The company connects innovative suppliers, particularly SMEs, with key personnel across defence, nuclear, science, and engineering sectors, enabling collaboration, accelerating innovation adoption, and supporting SME access while saving time, money, and taxpayer resources.

Pioneering an exclusive set of technology transfer expo’s that connect innovative UK suppliers, particularly SMEs, directly with major industrial, research, and defence establishments, her unique approach has revolutionised how these sectors access innovation, allowing engineers and scientists to engage with suppliers on-site rather than at traditional external venues.

Commenting on the unexpected accolade for which she was nominated by colleagues, Lisa added:

“I’m honoured to receive this award; however, it’s more a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the small but incredible team we have at Nu-Tech, and of the innovative businesses we’re proud to represent. Our mission has always been to create practical, cost-effective ways for UK industry to collaborate, innovate, and grow, and this recognition reinforces the impact of that vision.”

Lisa’s leadership has not only influenced national procurement behaviour but has also inspired collaboration across sectors, including defence, nuclear, aerospace, maritime, and scientific research. She continues to mentor young professionals and champion women entering male-dominated industries, combining entrepreneurial vision with a strong commitment to public value.

The National Business Women’s Awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional women driving business excellence and innovation across the UK. Lisa’s win highlights her as a trailblazer for female entrepreneurship and a driving force in modernising how British industry connects and innovates.
