In reaction to Keir Starmer’s promise to “invest in nuclear” in his clean energy speech in Scotland, Tom Greatrex, Chief Executive of the Nuclear Industry Association said,
“Keir Starmer is absolutely right to highlight the need to invest in new nuclear projects. Nuclear delivers clean, firm power, reducing our reliance on volatile fossil fuels and creates thousands of highly skilled, long-term jobs in areas that need them most.
“There are communities in all parts of Britain, including in Scotland, that have benefited from nuclear for decades, so it is essential that we get on with building both large-scale projects and a fleet of small modular reactors to improve energy security, provide economic activity and protect the environment. We need to move at pace if we want Britain to be an nuclear energy superpower.”
