Widnes-based engineering company Hutchinson has won three awards at this year’s Halton Business Awards, including the overall Outstanding Business of the Year award.

The company was recognised in three categories: Commitment to the Community, Manufacturer of the Year, and Outstanding Business of the Year.

The awards reflect different areas of the business, from manufacturing performance and continued investment in people and facilities, through to the company’s work with local charities, schools and community organisations.

The Commitment to the Community Award recognised Hutchinson’s ongoing charity and outreach work, including the Hutchinson Heroes campaign. The campaign supports local causes through fundraising, volunteering and practical support, while also helping local young people gain a better understanding of careers in engineering and manufacturing.

The Manufacturer of the Year Award recognised Hutchinson’s continued development as a UK manufacturer, with a focus on quality, innovation, operational improvement and long-term business growth. The award also reflects the company’s ongoing investment in its people, facilities and manufacturing capabilities. This includes adopting new technology, improving production processes and building the skills needed to support sustainable growth across the business.

The final award of the evening saw Hutchinson named Outstanding Business of the Year.

Steve Adams, Managing Director of Hutchinson, said:

“Winning three awards on the night is a significant moment for the business, but the real value is in what they recognise. The manufacturing award reflects the standards our teams work to every day across design, fabrication, production and delivery.

“The community award matters because Hutchinson has always been more than a place of work. We employ local people, support local causes and want to create opportunities for the next generation. Being named Outstanding Business of the Year brings those two sides together.

“It recognises the work happening across the whole company, from the factory floor to project delivery, apprenticeships, charity work and the relationships we have built with customers and suppliers. This is down to our people. Their skill, attitude and commitment are what drive the business forward.”

Hutchinson has continued to build its reputation as a leading North West manufacturer of complex steelwork, delivering major engineering projects from its facilities in Widnes for sectors including offshore wind, onshore wind and telecoms. Alongside this growth, the company remains focused on local employment, skills development and community support.

The awards add to a period of continued progress for the business, which remains focused on investment, manufacturing capability and creating a better future, engineered together.
