Industrial services provider Bilfinger has secured a major order intake in the significant multi-million-euro range for EDF’s Hinkley Point C in the United Kingdom.

The contract, which is expected to run until 2030, underscores Bilfinger’s position as a strategic Tier-1 supplier to the nuclear industry.

The comprehensive scope of work covers critical areas at the heart of nuclear power plant operations, reflecting Bilfinger’s deep nuclear expertise. Bilfinger’s services for the new build initiative include detailed engineering, procurement, piping prefabrication, and installation works, currently delivered by around 300 specialists on site. At peak times, the company will deploy up to 800 people, with an additional 100 employees working at the company’s prefabrication facility in West Carr.

Caroline Sagne, President Business Unit Nuclear at Bilfinger, said:

“This multi-year contract places us among a select group of partners entrusted with delivering essential systems for new nuclear plants, which is a testament to our deep expertise and the trust placed in our capabilities. We are proud to take on this significant role for our customer and remain committed to delivering highest standards in quality, efficiency, and safety.”

The United Kingdom has identified nuclear power as a cornerstone of its strategy to achieve net zero emissions. Bilfinger is well positioned to contribute to this ambition: With more than 60 years of experience in the nuclear industry and over 1000 nuclear-certified specialists, Bilfinger Nuclear supports customers across the entire life cycle of nuclear facilities – from new build and modernization to decommissioning and waste treatment.

The company operates dedicated manufacturing facilities in Germany and the United Kingdom, ensuring the highest quality standards for safety-critical nuclear components. To further support EDF’s initiative and meet growing demand driven by nuclear developments in the UK, Bilfinger is actively expanding its local prefabrication sites, including West Carr.
