The Nuclear Industry Association and Canadian Nuclear Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand the UK and Canadian strategic partnership.
Tom Greatrex on behalf of the NIA and John Gorman for the CNA signed the MOU which will look at areas where collaboration between the Canadian and British nuclear industries can accelerate nuclear deployment, particularly in the following:
- Fuels, where we are key partners in the Sapporo framework to cut reliance on Russia, and where we are both key suppliers to Ukraine
- SMRs and regulation, to maximise design standardisation wherever possible, and capture the fleet effect
- Green finance, where we have a lot to learn from the Canadians. From Bruce Power Ontario Power Generation and the federal government, they have led the world on green finance for nuclear
We look forward to working with our Canadian friends and counterparts to boost nuclear capacity for energy security and net zero.
