The NIA has welcomed the latest GDF (Geological Disposal Facility) skills report from Nuclear Waste Services, supporting the creation of more than 4,000 jobs (link). In reaction, Chief Executive of the Nuclear Industry Association, Tom Greatrex, said:

“The development of a GDF will bring major investment to the community where it is built, sustaining thousands of high-quality jobs and skills for a very long time.

“Countries like Sweden and Finland, where GDFs are progressing, are already seeing the benefits, with significant investment and jobs already created, so we know what the UK can expect.

“It will also develop and strengthen the UK’s proud legacy of world-class engineering and science.”
