Magnox is a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and is the Site Licence holder for 12 nuclear sites around the UK, as well as operating a hydroelectric plant in North Wales. Magnox employs ~2500 people, decommissioning the nuclear sites, on behalf of the UK taxpayer.

Recently, Magnox moved from a Parent Body contracted model to become a subsidiary of the NDA and also announced a change of decommissioning strategy from the previous ‘Care and Maintenance’ approach to a new ‘Site Specific Strategy’, which will see Trawsfynydd moving forward to accelerated work in clearing the site, as well as continuing important work at all other sites.

Gwen will cover Magnox’s transition to a subsidiary and the change in Magnox’s strategy for decommissioning.
