In reaction to to the lifting of the containment dome onto Unit 2 of Hinkley Point C, Tom Greatrex, Chief Executive of the Nuclear Industry Association, said:
“The lift showcases the value of Hinkley Point C: the project is creating thousands of skilled, well-paid jobs like the operatives who lifted the dome into place, and billions of investment are flowing into the local area.
“Hinkley is driving economic growth in our industrial supply chain right across the country and proving the benefits of replication, with Unit 2 construction going 20-30% faster than Unit 1.
“We should secure the replica project at Sizewell C as soon as possible to preserve and expand the jobs, investment and construction expertise that Hinkley will provide.”
