In response to the Business Secretary’s Commons Statement on the energy crisis, in which he said the government remained committed to expanding renewable and nuclear power capacity, Tom Greatrex, Chief Executive of the Nuclear Industry Association said,
“The government needs to urgently accelerate investment in homegrown nuclear power to complement renewable investment, starting with legislation for a new nuclear financing model.
“Nuclear is our only reliable, always-on, low-carbon and British power source that can improve our long-term system stability.”
