Join us in Cardiff for the Decom Business Group and a tour of Aberthaw Power Station!

Please note that registeration is now closed.

The next Decommissioning & Waste Management group meeting will take place at Cornerstone in Cardiff on Wednesday 2 October 2024 and will be co-hosted by Wales Nuclear Forum. The theme of the agenda will be ‘Innovation, not Invention’. We will be touring Aberthaw Power Station on Tuesday 1 October, followed by a PYOW dinner in Cardiff city centre that same night.

Aberthaw Power Station

CCR Energy are the current owners of the ex-coal fired power station in South Wales located at Aberthaw. The power station was decommissioned in 2019 and is being prepared for demolition over coming months. Plans for future use and redevelopment are currently under way with many exciting options being explored.

During our visit in October, you can find out more about the emerging masterplan, some of the new technologies which are being proposed to be tested in site, and wider innovation to be progressed. You will have a chance to meet the team, receive a presentation about the options for the site, and weather depending a site tour.

The session will run from 13:30 – 16:00 – allowing time to get back to Cardiff for the PYOW Dinner.

Please arrive at the site from 13:30 for a 14:00 start.
