The Nuclear Industry Benevolent Fund (TNIBF) is a registered charity supporting those working or who have worked in the UK Nuclear Industry through the provision of support, signposting, and financial assistance.

The NIA fully supports TNIBF and encourages our members to share The Fund's mission with their colleagues.

Vision
To reach present, future, and past UK nuclear industry workers who are experiencing financial distress or hardship; becoming a force for positive change in the lives of those individuals.

Mission
Through the provision of financial assistance, listening and support, and signposting, TNIBF aims to minimise financial distress and hardship wherever possible.

The Fund was established in 1957 as the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) Benevolent Fund. In 1998, the Fund changed it’s name to the UBA Benevolent Fund, and in 2013 it became The Nuclear Industry Benevolent Fund.

The Fund can provide assistance to cover short or long-term problems where help cannot be obtained from any other source.  Assistance is tailored to the individuals needs and circumstances.  All you need to do is provide details of your income and expenditure and the type of assistance you require.  You need not be a contributor to the Fund and assistance can include dependent family members.

In addition to providing support for those in financial hardship, the Fund has a Bursary Scheme which can provide one-off grants to those who are working in the nuclear industry, or are aspiring to do so, and are struggling financially to support their chosen training or development route. Examples of our help include support with undergraduate fees, short training courses, equipment etc.

It may be that you personally do not need our help but you have an ex-colleague, family member, or friend in the industry who you may have concerns about.  Please help us to spread the word.

Further information about The Fund, along with details of the Bursary Scheme, is available on the website www.tnibf.org. You can also download this one-pager and share with friends and colleagues: TNIBF A4 Fact Sheet nuclear 2022 v03_B

If you have any queries, you can get in touch via the ‘Contact’ section of the website, email us [email protected], or telephone 01925 633005. Applications for assistance can be made using the online application form, by post, or telephone – whichever you prefer.

The Fund has helped many people since it was set up in 1957 and we would like to help you if we can.  If you are having financial problems and can’t see a way out why not contact us. Please be assured that all inquiries are treated in the strictest of confidence and with empathy and respect.

Please note that our office is manned on a part-time basis, Monday to Thursday.  If we are not immediately available, we will aim to get back to you as soon as possible.
