Unlocking the full economic potential of nuclear in Wales
Confirmation of a new project at Wylfa should be only the beginning of a nuclear renaissance in Wales. Today, we are launching the NIA’s Wales Manifesto, setting out three clear targets to ensure nuclear development across Wales continues at pace and that the whole country benefits:
✅ Work with the nuclear industry on adopting and practically implementing the recommendations of the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce review
✅ Adopt a broader siting policy that enables nuclear development at Trawsfynydd and at suitable former coal sites and other former industrial sites
✅ Support the Welsh supply chain and workforce to secure opportunities at Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and beyond
New nuclear at Wylfa would deliver the single biggest boost to Welsh jobs in a generation, creating opportunities for people and businesses across Wales. Ensuring the project is delivered as efficiently as possible – and paving the way for more sites to be developed – will be vital to ensure the benefits are felt in every corner of Wales.
