The NIA responds to the European Commission’s ‘A Clean Planet for all’ report
29 November 2018
In response to the publication of the European Commission’s ‘A Clean Planet for all’ outlining the Commission’s vision for a modern, competitive and climate neutral economy by 2050, the NIA said:
“It’s encouraging that the European Commission has recognised the significant role nuclear can play alongside renewables in helping Europe become climate neutral by 2050.
“Confirmation from the Commission that nuclear can ensure reliable electricity supply while contributing to cleaner electricity production is a positive step and will position nuclear as a dependable pillar for electricity generation in this new era of clean energy across Europe.
“Investment in new nuclear is key to ensuring this, and is essential if we are to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.”
