As of December 2021, Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear (IDN) is officially a standalone not-for-profit company. The legal structure of IDN is that of company limited by guarantee.

The organisational was initially co-founded and led by Monica Mwanje (Managing Director of MM Creative Solutions) and Callum Thomas (CEO of Thomas Thor Associates) in February 2019. After three years of steady growth, a mutual decision was made to turn IDN into a fully independent, not-for-profit organisation.

To facilitate its operations as a standalone non-profit, IDN relies on financial contributions from its Industry Partners. The Industry Partnership scheme allows us to aid change from within by working closely with several prominent organisations within the nuclear sector. This partnership has allowed us to build an industry-led network of like-minded organisations, with the aim to share good practice and expand our offering. We are grateful to our 2022 Industry Partners for their support (Amentum, Cavendish Nuclear, EDF Energy, MM Creative Solutions, Orano, Rolls-Royce SMR, Sellafield, Thomas Thor Associates, UKAEA, Urenco, Vulcain Engineering).

Monica Mwanje, IDN’s Co-Founder and Managing Director, said:

“IDN becoming a standalone organisation was always part of our long-term plan. This is the beginning of a brand-new chapter for IDN and we’re excited to see where it leads.”

Valeria Saddi, IDN’s Operations Lead, said:

“We are delighted to see IDN standing on its own two feet. IDN’s new organisational structure allows us to contribute to Inclusion within the nuclear industry as an objective third party. We’re as ready to lobby for change as ever.”
