AMS Nuclear has reached a significant milestone in its growth, securing a new multi-million pound contract at Hinkley Point C for the supply of sampling and process equipment at Hinkley Point C.

The new contract also places the Somerset-based SME at the highest level of the project’s supply chain and reflects strong confidence in AMS Nuclear’s technical capability, delivery performance and long-standing contribution to the UK’s nuclear programme.

The initial scope includes the design and manufacture of specialist gas supply systems and process waste treatment systems critical to plant operation, building on AMS Nuclear’s established expertise in bespoke EC&I system integration. The framework also positions the company for further opportunities as the programme progresses and across future nuclear developments, including Sizewell C.

For AMS Nuclear, this marks an important step in its evolution from a trusted supplier within the EDF fleet to a recognised Tier 1 delivery partner supporting new build. Over recent years, the company has developed a reputation for delivering complex, integrated solutions across the full project lifecycle; from front-end engineering and detailed design through to manufacture, testing and commissioning.

As an SME, achieving Tier 1 status is particularly significant. It enables AMS Nuclear to engage earlier in project lifecycles, influence technical outcomes and contribute more directly to the success of major national infrastructure programmes.

The award is already shaping the company’s growth plans. AMS Nuclear is expanding its engineering and project delivery teams and investing in early-career pathways, including apprenticeships and degree-level opportunities. This growth will support increasing demand while contributing to the development of high-value technical skills within the South-West.

AMS Nuclear is also building on its experience at Hinkley Point C to support future projects, including Sizewell C and emerging technologies such as SMRs, where its system integration expertise is expected to play a key role.

This milestone highlights the strength of the South West’s nuclear supply chain and demonstrates how regional SMEs are scaling up to deliver nationally significant projects. It also reflects the long-term value created through Hinkley Point C, not only in infrastructure delivery but in developing sustainable capability, skills and employment across the region.
