Unlocking the full economic potential of nuclear in Wales

Confirmation of a new project at Wylfa should be only the beginning of a nuclear renaissance in Wales. Today, we are launching the NIA’s Wales Manifesto – aimed at Members of the Senedd and prospective Senedd candidates to adopt – setting out three clear targets to ensure nuclear development across Wales continues at pace and that the whole country benefits:
✅ Work with the nuclear industry on adopting and practically implementing the recommendations of the Nuclear Regulatory Taskforce review
✅ Adopt a broader siting policy that enables nuclear development at Trawsfynydd and at suitable former coal sites and other former industrial sites
✅ Support the Welsh supply chain and workforce to secure opportunities at Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and beyond
New nuclear at Wylfa would deliver the single biggest boost to Welsh jobs in a generation, creating opportunities for people and businesses across Wales. Ensuring the project is delivered as efficiently as possible – and paving the way for more sites to be developed – will be vital to ensure the benefits are felt in every corner of Wales.

Dylai cadarnhau prosiect newydd yn Wylfa fod ond y dechrau i adfywiad niwclear yng Nghymru. Heddiw rydym yn lansio Maniffesto Cymru yr NIA – sydd wedi’i anelu at Aelodau’r Senedd ac ymgeiswyr arfaethedig i’r Senedd i’w fabwysiadu – sy’n nodi tri tharged clir i sicrhau bod datblygiad niwclear ledled Cymru yn parhau ar gyflymder ac i sicrhau bod y wlad gyfan yn elwa:
✅ Gweithio gyda’r diwydiant niwclear i fabwysiadu a gweithredu’n ymarferol argymhellion adolygiad y Tasglu Rheoleiddio Niwclear
✅ Mabwysiadu polisi lleoli ehangach sy’n galluogi datblygiad niwclear yn Nhrawsfynydd ac ar safleoedd glo blaenorol addas a safleoedd diwydiannol blaenorol eraill
✅ Cefnogi cadwyn gyflenwi a gweithlu Cymru i sicrhau cyfleoedd yn Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, ac ymhellach
Byddai niwclear newydd yn Wylfa yn rhoi’r hwb mwyaf i swyddi yng Nghymru mewn cenhedlaeth, gan greu cyfleoedd i bobl a busnesau ledled y wlad. Bydd sicrhau bod y prosiect yn cael ei gyflawni mor effeithlon â phosibl – a pharatoi’r ffordd ar gyfer datblygu mwy o safleoedd – yn hanfodol i sicrhau bod y manteision yn cael eu teimlo ym mhob cwr o Gymru.
