Frazer-Nash appointed to Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) Technical Services Framework

08 November 2018

Systems and engineering technology consultancy, Frazer-Nash has been re-appointed to the Office for Nuclear Regulation’s four year Technical Services Framework.

The framework, which enables the ONR to access additional expert, independent technical support to supplement its own in-house knowledge, will help ensure the nuclear regulator can access the niche technical skills and experience needed to support its regulatory activities.

Frazer-Nash Senior Consultant, Seb Black, the Framework Manager, explains:

“Frazer-Nash has been awarded one of four Tier 1 positions under Lot 2 of the framework which provides specialist engineering and technical services across 16 technical disciplines, including control and instrumentation, structural integrity, chemistry, civil and mechanical engineering, internal and external hazards and human factors.

“We are delighted to be continuing to provide support to the Office for Nuclear Regulation.”

Additional comment from Seb Black:

“Through the framework, we will support ONR by providing independent advice to supplement their existing knowledge base, as well as our specialist software and modelling services. We are likely to be reviewing specific aspects of nuclear safety cases against relevant industry guidance and expectations, and supplying suitably qualified resource to support ONR’s skill set in specific areas.

“We’ll be working with a supply chain of Tier 2 organisations to provide capability to the ONR across these technical disciplines, with this additional expertise helping it to deliver the goals of its strategic plan.”

Editor’s Notes

The other ‘Tier 1’ organisations appointed to this framework are: Atkins, Wood Group, and a consortium led by TUV SUD Nuclear Technologies.
