Quintet of food banks benefit with donations

01 April 2020

Assystem, the world’s second largest nuclear company, has pledged food vouchers to five foodbanks across the UK.

With the country facing a period of lockdown, the decision was made to assist charities local to Assystem offices of Blackburn, Sunderland, Whitehaven, Derby and Bristol, following a foodbank collection campaign being postponed due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Noted for contributing to the pioneering nuclear projects to benefit the world of tomorrow, today’s current climate was the focus of this current endeavour, as Peter Higton, Managing Director of Assystem Energy and Infrastructure Limited explains.

He said:

“Assystem’s ethos has always been one to serve society and try to find ways of improving the environment we live in.

“Times may currently be different, but our attitude isn’t. We have taken appropriate precautions to safeguard our staff and maintained dialogue with our partners, and we will continue to serve the wider community as best we can.

“With many people facing a lot of uncertainty, we hope this gesture of help will go a little way to easing some pressures for people and families that really need it.”
