Minister for Energy, Department of Trade and Industry
Stephen Timms joined the Department of Trade and Industry in May 2002 as e-Commerce Minister. He was previously Minister of State for Schools at the Department for Education and Skills, from June 2001. He was Financial Secretary to the Treasury from July 1999. He held the position of Minister of State for Social Security from January 1999 to July 1999, and Parliamentary Under Secretary, Department of Social Security between July 1998 and January 1999. He worked in the computing and telecommunications industry for 15 years before entering Parliament in 1994 He studied mathematics at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
