Nuclear Industry Association response to the energy policy judicial review | Print |  E-mail
Thursday, 15 February 2007

The Nuclear Industry Association is obviously disappointed with today’s outcome of the judicial review of the Government’s energy review. The public consultation was very thorough and even included the Energy Minister going out to talk to ordinary people on buses in London to ask their views on it.

Nuclear Industry Association Chief Executive Keith Parker, said, “The facts of energy supply in the UK are not altered by this judgement. We still face increasing insecurity in our energy supplies and rising greenhouse gas emissions. Nuclear helps us keep the lights on and as a low carbon generator helps to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. What this ruling may do however is to delay action to deal with these problems which with a generating gap approaching in the next decade, can not be good for the national interest.”
