Winning bidders in NDA land auction announced | Print |  E-mail
Thursday, 30 April 2009
The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its auction process for the disposal of land adjacent to three existing nuclear sites at Bradwell in Essex, Oldbury in South Gloucestershire and Wylfa in Anglesey.

The successful bidders are:

Bow Bidco Wylfa Ltd (A consortium consisting of EON UK Plc and RWE Npower Plc) for the 178 hectares (438 acres) of land at Wylfa;

Bow Bidco Oldbury Ltd (A consortium consisting of EON UK Plc and RWE Npower Plc) for the 48 hectares (119 acres) of land at Oldbury;

EDF Development Company Ltd for the 200 hectares (493 acres) of land at Bradwell.

Richard Waite, Acting Chief Executive of the NDA said:

“This complex process started in March 2008 when the NDA requested expressions of interest for its assets. The project team developed an innovative solution designed to maximise value which has been completed on schedule. The sale of these three sites is worth up to £387 million which the NDA will use to help fund the cost of decommissioning and further its core mission."

The NDA and EDF, in their role as seller of land at Wylfa, will now work with each of the winning bidders to complete the legal process for the transfer of ownership of the land in accordance with the sale contracts exchanged at the close of the auction.

The NDA now intends to begin the process for the disposal of land under its ownership at Sellafield as soon as practicably possible.
