Olkiluoto gets safety clearance to build | Print |  E-mail
Finnish regulators have confirmed that in their view there are no safety problems standing in the way of building the new nuclear power plant at Olkiluoto in Western Finland. They have therefore recommended that the government grant a construction license for the unit. The Finnish Ministry of Trade & Industry has promised to deal quickly with the construction license application.

The 1,600MW EPR will be built by Framatome ANP and operated by from Teollisuuden Voima Oy. Site clearance and excavation work on the site has been completed and it will be turned over to Framatome as soon as the construction license is granted.
