South Africa is talking about building a conventional nuclear plant, separate from the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor project. Speaking at the TopNux conference on new reactors in London, Alec Erwin, South Africa's minister for public enterprise stated that they were looking to construct a new baseload plant in the southern part of its grid. The feasibility study into the project started last Autumn and would take about two years. South Africa will start talking to international vendors after the study is completed. |
