French utility approves new nuclear reactor | Print |  E-mail
Directors of the French utility, Electricite de France (EDF) have authorised Chairman/CEO
Francois Roussely to begin taking steps towards launching the process which will lead to the construction of a head-of-series EPR (European Pressurised Water Reactor). Roussely
will meet with regional officials interested in hosting the unit and report
back to the board by August 1, EDF said. EDF will then apply to
the National Commission for Public Debate to launch the required public
consultation on the project. Following the consultation process, regulatory procedures would ensue. Construction of the reactor is likely to last a projected 57 months.
