The French Senate has overwhelmingly adopted a nuclear waste strategy bill aimed at getting the construction of a deep-geologic repository under way in 2015 and starting repository operations in 2025. The Senate brought some modifications to the National Assembly's bill version passed during its first reading in April. Consequently, the measure can be implemented only after a second reading by the National Assembly. No date has yet been scheduled. However, some sources have said the Assembly is expected to debate and vote on the bill before the end of the summer session. |
