The Government has reversed its decision to rename the Department of Trade and Industry as the Department of Productivity, Energy and Industry. Alan Johnson will now be known as the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. It is thought that the reversion reflects criticism of the new name and the cost of rebranding rather than a desire to downgrade its energy functions.
