Bill Coley, Chief Executive British Energy, today congratulated the Government on its commitment to the development of new nuclear build in the UK: “Today’s conference illustrated the Government’s commitment to see nuclear new build become a reality in the UK. More than that, they are demonstrating a clear understanding of the commercial realities that will drive the new build programme. Although much remains to be done, they are backing that commitment with action. They are addressing the key issues - such as waste, site selection and regulation - with an appropriate level of urgency. “John Hutton’s comments today provide encouragement for us to continue the development programmes that we have underway at our four southern sites. I know that the 6,000 people across British Energy will be excited by the commitment that has been shown.” His comments were made after a conference on investment in new nuclear in the UK arranged by BERR and hosted by John Hutton, The Business Secretary.
