BNFL Inc has announced that the company has changed its name to "BNG America." BNG America will continue BNFL Inc's work as a leading provider of radioactive waste management, clean-up services, and nuclear operations in the United States. The company has over 1,000 employees at projects across the US and has a foundation of over 15 years of experience successfully decommissioning and cleaning up some of the most technically challenging legacies of the Cold War in the US. Philip Strawbridge, President and CEO of BNG America, said, "Changing our name to 'BNG America' reflects our presence in the US as an American company and allows us to take advantage of the additional synergies that will be created with our parent company, British Nuclear Group, as it transforms to operate under a 'US style' business model and begins to accelerate the clean-up of nuclear waste in the UK." BNG America's subsidiaries have changed their names as well. BNFL Fuel Solutions will become BNG Fuel Solutions and BNFL Savannah River Corporation will become BNG America Savannah River Corporation. BNG America's affiliated companies' provide services across the entire range of the nuclear fuel cycle from uranium procurement through waste management and decommissioning. They operate 51 sites in sixteen countries around the world and employ nearly 23,000 people. BNG America's sister company in the US is Westinghouse Electric Company which provides nuclear services worldwide and has the world's largest base of operating nuclear plants. |
