British Energy, owner and operator of Dungeness B nuclear power station, is to hold six public meetings in January, in and around Romney Marsh, to discuss the potential for new nuclear build at the Dungeness site.
The company, the UK's largest electricity generator, is assessing land at Dungeness as a potential new nuclear build site, alongside three other sites at Sizewell in Suffolk, Bradwell in Essex and Hinkley Point in Somerset.
Alan Oulton, station director at Dungeness B, said: "We are very keen to outline our plans for potential new nuclear build to people in our community and to allow them to ask questions and give us their views.
"There is no doubt that Dungeness is potentially a key site for new nuclear build in the UK and the benefits to Romney Marsh in terms of jobs and the economy are vast, but an important part of the site assessment process is our dialogue with the community."
The meetings will provide updates on the company's plans to build at least one new reactor unit of up to 1600MW at Dungeness - sufficient for around 2.5 million households - employing up to 2000 people during construction and around 300-400 people during sixty years of low carbon electricity generation.
Staff from British Energy and Royal Haskoning, an environmental consultant firm carrying out impact assessments on British Energy's potential new build projects, will be on hand to answer people's questions.
The meetings will be on:
Tuesday 13 January at the New Romney Assembly Rooms starting at 7pm
Wednesday 14 January at the Rye College of Enterprise and Arts starting at 6.30pm
Tuesday 20 January at Dungeness RSPB Visitor Centre starting at 2pm
Wednesday 21 January at Dymchurch Village Hall starting at 6.30pm
Wednesday 28 January at Hythe Methodist Church Hall starting at 6.30pm
Thursday 29 January at Lydd War Memorial Institute Club starting at 2.30pm
