MOU for Cooperation between NIA and KAIF
NIA Press Release 27.11.12
On 27 November 2012, Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) and Korea Atomic Industrial Forum (KAIF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Seoul, Korea. The memorandum promises close cooperation in the nuclear industry and future activities between the two countries.
The UK has strengthened its expertise in successful delivery of nuclear energy for the last 50 years. Their skills and expertise include design and construction, operations and monitoring and, more recently, experience of life extension and decommissioning.
Keith Parker, the Chief Executive of the NIA, said that “The UK was a pioneer in nuclear generation technology and remains a leading world player. It has established a world-class nuclear supply chain that can contribute across the whole of the nuclear life cycle while complying with complicated national and international regulations”
Keith Parker added that “I hope that the memorandum fosters better co-operation, more exchange and closer relationships between the UK and Korea in nuclear industry.”
NIA and KAIF have agreed to work together closely through the memorandum. They will promote exchange of experiences and materials in development, operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants as well as technology information on nuclear fuel and increase collaboration in academic research.
