CBI Report Outlines Green Economic Potential

A new CBI report has outlined the vast financial potential of the UK’s low carbon, energy industries.

The report entitled, ‘The colour of growth: maximising the potential of green business’ concludes that the UK has the potential to become a global leader in low carbon products and services.

The report also suggests that if Government was to commit to green projects, such as the proposed new nuclear plans; £20 billion could be added to the UK’s annual GDP by 2015. Expelling the myth that there has to be a choice between green or growth.

The NIA’s Public Policy Advisor, Peter Haslam said, “The CBI’s report further highlights the enormous economic potential of the UK’s green industries. The nuclear industry is a key part of this and will help to provide the UK with a sustainable and balanced low-carbon energy mix.”

The full report including the CBI’s 10 recommendations to Government on green business can be found here.
