Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre Westminster, London, 5 & 6 July 2011

On the road to nuclear new build

The UK’S energy future is a big issue. It’s a big issue for politicians; a big issue for investors and energy companies; and it’s a big issue for the man in the street.

With headlines claiming massive price hikes in domestic fuel bills, anxiety over securing adequate supplies for Britain’s future prosperity and our commitments to tackle climate change and switch to a low-carbon economy, there’s certainly a lot to talk about.

NNB2011: On the road to new nuclear build is a nuclear conference with a difference. It tells an integrated story about where we’ve come from, and more importantly where we’re heading.

They say timing is everything.

NNB2011: On the road to new nuclear build immediately follows the publication of the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) report and other key policy and regulatory decisions. It looks forward to the crucial milestones ahead of us.

Is enough being done to secure the UK’s low-carbon future? Where are
the road-blocks likely to be? And what can be done to avoid them and keep our energy future on track?

NNB2011 will be an unrivalled opportunity to ask the experts. From the
developers, the government officials, the regulators, the analysts, through to the local representatives on the ground we’ll hear the full story for the first time on the UK’s crucial nuclear delivery timeline.

Are we on track to deliver?

We’ll hear the views of nuclear industry leaders, and young professionals in the industry on the skills and decisions needed to deliver a secure energy future. And we will delve behind the headlines to find out what communities really think about future nuclear developments.

This conference (put together by the UK Nuclear Industry Association, the Nuclear Institute and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers) will bring realism to the critical issue of ensuring delivery of reliable and sustainable
low-carbon power generation to the UK. It will highlight the progress to date and the key issues still to be overcome.

The preparation of the supply chain and timescales for orders will feature highly. If you are seeking some of the action in nuclear new build can you afford to miss the crucial nuclear conference of the year? Make a date in your diary now for NNB2011: On the road to new nuclear build to gain the best possible insight into the UK’s nuclear future.
