At the end of February NIA distributed a report entitled “The impact of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority on the supply chain”to all its members. The establishment of the NDA on 1 April heralds profound changes for the structure of the industry, and for the way in which the decommissioning and clean-up of the historic legacy previously owned and operated by BNFL and UKAEA, will be managed.
At the end of February NIA distributed a report entitled "The impact of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority on the supply chain"to all its members. The establishment of the NDA on 1 April heralds profound changes for the structure of the industry, and for the way in which the decommissioning and clean-up of the historic legacy previously owned and operated by BNFL and UKAEA, will be managed. In anticipation of those changes, NIA examined the experience of other sectors that had undergone similar transformations, and developed a vision of how the NDA was likely to affect the operations and relationships of NIA's member companies. The purpose of the report is to provide advice and guidance on the implications of the NDA for the supply chain, particularly those companies operating at tiers 2 and 3, and how they may need to adapt to compete successfully for business. The report has been very positively received. A printed version will be available shortly and in the meantime it is available on the NIA's members website. NIA's planning plans a series of seminars later in the year based around the report's findings to enable members to discuss how the first few months of the NDA's operations have affected them and what lessons can be learned for the future. |
