Panellists at the JAIF 04 conference in Japan
A team of five NIA members from four companies - Centronic Raditec, Nirex, BNFL and Alpha Engineering - accompanied by NIA visited Tokyo in Japan between 19 and 23 April 2004.The visit comprised an NIA hosted seminar and reception at the British Embassy in Tokyo on 20 April followed by attendance at the 37th Japanese Atomic Industry Forum (JAIF) Annual Conference between 21 and 23 April also in Tokyo. Assistance with funding was provided by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) for the smaller companies attending. The visit provided a good opportunity for members seeking business opportunities in Japan to gain an understanding of the Japanese nuclear market. Thirty Japanese companies attended the NIA hosted seminar at the Embassy making it a very good turn out, and several Japanese companies expressed interest in forming links with UK companies to work with Japanese companies in overseas markets. Overall the event proved to be very successful.

The UKTI funded NIA Export Programme for 2003 /04 also includes visits to Russia and Canada. Companies interested in details of the forthcoming visits to Russia and Canada should contact Norman Buckley at NIA on 020 7766 6640 or This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it
