The French have decided to join the Finns in building a new nuclear reactor. The board of EDF has decided to build an European Pressurised Water Reactor (EPR) unit (the same design as Finland recently ordered) although it has yet to decide on the site. |

The Energy Bill has now had Royal Assent and is on the statute books as the Energy Act 2004. The Act provides the legal framework under which the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority will be established and will pave the way for the acceleration of decommissioning work in the UK. |
