Adrian Ham retired from NIA in September, to become a member of several advisory Boards, and to spend a lot more time in France.
Adrian was no stranger to politics nor to wider energy issues, having been Special Adviser to Chancellor of the Exchequer Denis Healey in the 1974 Labour Government, when world oil prices leapt 300% in twelve months. He also published a critical review of Whitehall mandarins 'Treasury Rules', based on his experiences. Whilst Adrian was at NIA it rebranded, presented industry points of view to the Government on energy, nuclear waste, the restructuring of the industry, and the attainment of greenhouse gas targets. In the same period its membership rose from 60 to over 80 companies. Following Adrian's departure, Keith Parker has been appointed as Acting Chief Executive of the NIA. Keith will also continue to be responsible for Corporate Communications. |
