NIA international trade assistance | Print |  E-mail
Friday, 25 January 2008
NIA’s overseas trade programme has continued with a very successful outward trade visit to France between 11 and 13 July 2007.

The visit comprised two centre seminars and site visits at Lyon and La Hague in Normandy. The visit was well attended with eight UK companies and three trade organisations comprising a 12 person delegation.

Meetings took place with EDF-CIDEN in Lyon on the French decommissioning programme, AREVA at the La Hague reprocessing plant and with ANDRA at the La Manche disposal facility with a plant tour of both Areva and Andra facilities. Funding assistance was provided by UKTI who recognised the outward trade visit as a significant opportunity for UK companies.

The premier nuclear industry showcase event in Europe, ENC 2007, the European Nuclear Conference and Exhibition took place in Brussels, Belgium between 16 and 19 September. Eight UK companies including NIA participated in the event Conference and Exhibition and an open and joint UK stand was utilised by the team with funding assistance provided by UKTI. Feedback from members and delegates has been very positive and they were impressed with the stand and the business opportunities the event afforded them.

A “flyer” outlining NIA’s 2008/09 overseas trade programme has recently been circulated to all NIA member companies seeking member’s interest in participating. Countries to be targeted next year include Spain, South Africa, Pacific Rim and Canada.
