White Paper in May | Print |  E-mail
Despite the Greenpeace judicial review in February, which required the Government to consult again on its policy on nuclear, the Energy White Paper will be published in May. While this will be a two month delay from its proposed publication in March much of the proposed content such as strategic site assessments will be included. However they will all be contingent on the outcome of a further consultation on the Government’s nuclear policy which will be launched with the White Paper. The Government is expected to issue a revised policy in the Autumn.

The Government will also be issuing a consultation on the process for the selection of a site for a High and Intermediate level waste repository in July. This is part of the implementation of last year’s Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) proposals and will be overseen by a new reconstituted CoRWM.
