NIA's programme of work with political youth groups for 2006 began with a Young Labour dinner, in association with Trade Unions for Safe Nuclear Energy (TUSNE).

NIA's programme of work with political youth groups for 2006 began with a Young Labour dinner, in association with Trade Unions for Safe Nuclear Energy (TUSNE). John Robertson MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy, spoke at the event on the Government Energy Review and the contribution nuclear could make in terms of concerns about security of supply and climate change. Miranda Kirschel of NIA, spoke as Vice Chair of the Young Generation Network (YGN), a group of over 350 young professionals working in the nuclear industry.  The event was chaired by Dougie Rooney, Chair of TUSNE.

The event was attended by 18 members of Young Labour, promising candidates for the political future of the country. Questions during the discussion were varied and insightful, including concerns about security of energy supply following the recent dispute between Russia and the Ukraine over gas supplies. The security at power stations was also a topic of discussion.

Four members of the YGN, including Mark Salisbury pictured, also attended the event, showing a keen interest in the future of politics and energy policy in particular. Becky Ferris is the new Chair of the group with Miranda and Neil Crewdson as Vice Chairs. An Executive Committee of fifteen carry out the extensive work that the YGN produce yearly.
