BOOK BY 02 JULY TO ENSURE SITE TOURS

The Young Generation Network aims to encourage the transfer of knowledge and experience between the older and younger generations within the Nuclear Industry.

This seminar is one of seven ‘YGN Presents’ that aim to give attendees a wider view of the industry than they will get from within their own organisation.

It is also a key opportunity for young Nuclear Professionals to network.

The YGN Presents: An Introduction to Nuclear Power Generation seminar gives those new to the nuclear industry an excellent opportunity to increase their understanding of the technical and socio-economical aspects of all stages in nuclear power generation in Britain. This three-day seminar, which includes two technical tours, invites leading industry figures to talk on their specialist subject matters.

Presentations Include:

  • Westinghouse UK, AP1000 Reactor
  • Springfields, Nuclear Fuel Production
  • Sellafield, Fuel Reprocessing
  • NDA, Deep Geological Store facility
  • Atkins, winning the ITER project bid
  • EDF Energy, Sizewell B Drystore Project
  • Horizon, Impact of Nuclear New Build

Technical Tours:

JET, the Joint European Torus, is currently the world's largest Tokamak. The JET facilities include plasma heating systems capable of delivering up to 30 megawatts of power, an active gas handling system and a beryllium handling facility providing JET with a unique tritium and beryllium capability, respectively.

EDF Energy owns and operates Hinkley Point B, a twin advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR) power station with an electrical output of 860 MW, based on the Somerset coast. This is also the site where EDF Energy plans to build the first new nuclear power station (an EPR) in Britain for over 20 years.
