Engine for Growth

Thursday 6th December 2012 Central Hall, Westminster

2012 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for nuclear. The UK remains a world class destination to invest in new nuclear.

Energy Choices will showcase the many benefits that nuclear brings to the UK economy through current generation, new build and decommissioning. It will highlight recent developments including the Energy Bill, the sale of Horizon and feature important initiatives to support supply chain companies.

This year’s conference will explore the nuclear industry as an Engine for Growth in the UK economy – considering the impact and economic footprint of the decommissioning sector, existing plants and new nuclear going in to the future. As our Jobs Map shows, there are over 60,000 employees currently employed in the nuclear industry nationwide and with each new power station creating an infrastructure project on the scale of the 2012 Olympics, this is only set to increase.

As well as new Energy Minister John Hayes MP, Energy Choices 2012 will feature speakers and panellists from some of the most prominent companies across all aspects of the civil nuclear industry, including EDF Energy, Laing O’Rourke, National Nuclear Laboratory, AMEC, NuGeneration Ltd, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and many more.

Featured exhibitors include Alstom, Arvia Technology, BMT Hi-Q Sigma, Boulting Group, Calder GroupCH2MHILL, Chartered Quality Institute, Cogent SSC, Darchem Engineering, Direct Rail Services, Doosan Power Systems, Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, EnergySolutions, Horizon Nuclear PowerKier BAM JV, National Nuclear Laboratory, National Skills Academey for Nuclear, NEC, Nuclear Engineering Services, NuGeneration, Nuvia, UK Atomic Energy Authority and Urenco.
