Chairman, All Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy and Member of Parliament for Hamilton South
Bill Tynan has been the Member of Parliament for the Scottish Constituency of Hamilton South since 1999 and a member of the Labour Party since 1969. Before moving into politics, he was a full time AEEU trade union official and a qualified toolmaker. Bills specific interests include Nuclear Energy, International Development and Global Poverty Reduction, Scottish Racing, Consumer Affairs and Social Justice. Bill is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy, Convenor of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Friends of Scottish Racing, Member of the European Scrutiny Committee and Member of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee. He was successful in piloting the Fireworks Act 2003 through Parliament and received the RSPCA John Stewart Trophy 2004 in recognition of his work in the field of animal welfare. |
