Poncelet becomes Director-General at FORATOM |

New man at FORATOM helm
FORATOM, the trade association representing the European nuclear industry,
announced today that Jean-Pol Poncelet has been appointed its new Director
General. He succeeds Santiago San Antonio, who has stepped down after five
years in the Brussels hot seat.
Jean-Pol Poncelet is Belgian. He graduated in civil engineering from the Ecole
Polytechnique of the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium). During a long and
distinguished career in industry and public service, Jean-Pol Poncelet has been Head of
the Belgian Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials, ONDRAF;
Director of Strategy and External Relations at the European Space Agency (ESA) and,
most recently, Advisor to Anne Lauvergeon, CEO of AREVA, and AREVA’s Senior Vice
President of Sustainable Development and Continuous Improvement. Between 1995
and 1999, he was Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Energy Minister in the
Belgian government.
