The Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) will be joining forces with the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) to promote a major supply chain event in Anglesey. The event, “Positioning Your Business for Nuclear New Build (NNB)” will provide an informative and knowledge-sharing event aimed at locally-based manufacturing SME’s. The programme is being supported by the Anglesey Energy Island Programme (AEIP) and Welsh Government (WG) and takes place on Friday 23rd September. This half day event, which is free to manufacturing SME’s, is being held at the Construction Skills Centre, Coleg Menai, Llangefni, Anglesey. The aim of this event is to raise the awareness of the NNB programme to businesses within Anglesey and North Wales, informing manufacturers of the opportunities that are happening now, and what they may need to do to position their business in the market for NNB – particularly in relation to the proposed new nuclear build development at Wylfa. Keith Parker, Chief Executive of the NIA said: “The NIA is delighted to be working with MAS and the Anglesey Energy Island Programme on highlighting opportunities for regional companies to get involved in the UK nuclear industry.” “These supply chain events are a perfect opportunity for local businesses to hear about the considerable opportunities in one of the few sectors of the UK economy which is gearing up for growth.” “New nuclear build will be a major economic boost for the UK. Government figures suggest up to 30,000 new jobs will be created as a result of proposed new build plans.” Speakers from the NIA, DECC (Department for Energy and Climate Change), leading nuclear companies and the Welsh Government will take part. For further details and to register for the event, please telephone the free MAS help line on 0800 093 9077. Comments (0)
